Azerbaijan is planning on buying Israel’s advanced Iron Dome missile interceptor system, reports say.
A battery of the interceptors is ready to be
handed over to the Azerbaijan military, the Walla news site says,
quoting Azeri media.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is planning
on visiting Azerbaijan in the coming months amid burgeoning ties with
the Central Asian nation.
This would be the first sale of the
sophisticated system outside of Israel. It has been very successful in
shooting down rockets fired by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Azerbaijan is embroiled in a conflict with Armenia over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
