  (ADDIS ABABA) –  The Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization (RSADO), an Eritrean opposition group, claimed on Monday that the Red Sea nation had allegedly granted Egypt green light to build a military base within the country’s territory.  Officials from the opposition group, quoting “reliable” sources in Eritrea, claimed Asmara has allowed Cairo to acquire a military base in Nora locality at the Dahlak Island for an indefinite period of time. The agreement, RSADO further said, comes in the wake of last week’s high-level visit of the Egyptian delegation to Eritrea. An estimated 20,000 to 30,000 Egyptian naval forces will be deployed at the planned base, officials from the group hinted. As it had long been anticipated and if true, Egypt will be Africa’s first and third Arab country to build a military facility in the reclusive East African nation, currently under United Nations sanctions for arming and financing Al-Shabab, a terrorist group allied with al-Qaeda

Two U.S. special forces troops killed in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday may have been struck by friendly fire in an operation targeting the emir of Islamic State militants in Afghanistan, the Pentagon said on Friday. Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis told reporters that the military was investigating if the two troops may have been killed by ground fire, either by American forces or Afghan commandos taking part in the raid, though it appeared to be accidental. "We are investigating the circumstances of the combat deaths of the two Army Rangers in the beginning of what was an intense three-hour fire fight," Davis said. "It is possible these Rangers were struck by friendly fire." Earlier in the day, the Pentagon identifies the troops as Sergeant Joshua Rodgers, 22, and Sergeant Cameron Thomas, 23. Από το πρωί είχαμε αλλάξει θέση πολλές φορές, αλλά πουθενά δεν καταφέρναμε να μείνουμε αθέατοι. Ρώτησα τότε τον Κυβερνήτη της ΥΔΡΑΣ,  Αντιπλοίαρχο Θ. Πεζόπουλο, αν είχε καμιά έμπνευση, μέχρι να έρθει η ώρα να πλεύσουμε προς το στίγμα συναντήσεως που είχε ορισθεί.  Αυτός, με το φλέγμα που τον διέκρινε, μου απάντησε «κύριε Διοικητά, ότι είναι πεπρωμένο να συμβεί θα συμβεί, προτείνω να πλεύσουμε με μικρή ταχύτητα προς τις Φλέβες».  Δέχτηκα τη γνώμη του, καθώς δεν εύρισκα άλλη λύση. Scientists are aiming to advance this new research area to help injured service members recover from the wounds of war.   TEHRAN    The Syrian Air Force, tipped off by the Iraqi intelligence, launched a major assault on ISIL's most important bases in Raqqa city for the second day in a row, Iraq's Joint Operation Command announced in a statement on Sunday.   The statement released on the Arabic-language Elam al-Harbi website said the Syrian air force received valuable information from the Iraqi military intelligence units within the quadrilateral Intelligence Sharing Center. It added that based on the intel the Syrian warplanes launched repeated combat sorties over ISIL's largest positions in Raqqa with the most prominent suicide and military commanders inside them. On April 7,  from 3.42 to 3.56 (MSK), two destroyers of the US Navy (USS Ross and USS Porter) made a massive strike with 59 Tomahawk   cruise missiles from the area near Crete Island  (Mediterranean Sea) against the Syrian Shayrat Air Base (Homs province). According to the objective monitoring data, 23 missiles reached the Syrian Air Base. As a result, an equipment depot, a training building, a mess, six MiG-23 aircraft in repairing hangars as well as a radar station were destroyed. The runway, taxiways and aircraft of the Syrian Air Force at parking places were not damaged.
