Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Issues New Royal Decrees

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman issued royal decrees on Saturday that saw establishment of new councils.

The royal decrees demanded the establishment of a new separate ministry which will be known as Ministry of Culture, meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture and Information will be known as the Ministry of Information.

King Salman also ordered the establishment of royal authority for the city of Mecca and Holy sites, as well as a Council for the Royal Protected Areas in the Royal Court.

Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz will chair the Royal Protected Areas Council, according to the decrees.

The decrees also saw the appointment of several new ministers.

Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud was appointed as Minister of Culture. Sheikh Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh was appointed as Minister of Islamic Affairs. Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh was appointed as a member of the Security and Political Affairs Council.

Also, the decrees saw the appointment of Abdullah bin Salim al-Mutani as deputy speaker of the Shura Council with the rank of minister, and the appointment of Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan as the President of King Abdullah City for Energy with the rank of Minister.

Minister of Labor and Social Development Ali bin Nasser Al-Ghafees was relieved of his post. Also, Eng. Saad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khalab, Deputy Minister of Transport and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Suwayan, Director of Hafar Al-Batin University, were both exempted from their posts.

The royal decrees further saw the following appointments:

- Appointment of Abdullah bin Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Saadan as Chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu as Minister.

- Appointment of Eng. Haitham bin Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Aohali as Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology at the excellent rank.

- Appointment of Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Thaqafi as Advisor to the Head of State Security at the excellent rank.

- Appointment of Eng. Khalid bin Saleh bin Mohammed Al-Mudayfar as Deputy Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources for the excellent rank.

- Appointment of Eng. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Ali Al-Abdulkarim as Deputy Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources for Industry.

- Appointment of Eng. Nasser bin Abdul Razzaq bin Yusuf Al Nafisi as Assistant Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources at the excellent rank.

- Appointment of Dr. Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Daoud as Deputy Minister of Interior with the rank of Minister.

- Appointment of of Eng. Badr bin Abdullah bin Mohanna Dulami as Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads.

- Appointment of Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Qahtani as the Director of Hafar Al-Batin University at the excellent rank.
