Turkish general cargo ship KOZA issued distress signal on Dec 7, some 100 nm
south of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Master reported water ingress in engine
room, crew preparing to abandon sinking ship. Nearest Polish cargo ship ESL
EUROPA (IMO 9333553, dwt 17300, manager EuroAfrica Services Poland)
steamed to assist, picking up 13 crew, two more – Master and Chief Officer,
were rescued by bulk carrier TD TOKYO. (IMO 9726566). Rescued crew were to
be disembarked in Freetown. No information on KOZA fate and her present
